ABOUT US

Is today yesterday…or tomorrow? Can we share our memories with future generations? Somebody says "yes."

One might think that Burgundy Olivier had been around 100 years ago if she were judged on her love of antiques. For what seems like forever, Burgundy has collected vintage doodads, orphaned oddities and Lilliputian baubles. She can look at what many folks toss out and see art, even though it may initially appear to be little more than scraps, dust and rust. Sometimes she sees steampunk, while other times she sees whimsical or perhaps grandiose. What might start out as a pile of leftover metal, wood, glass or leather, may end up being quite avant-garde.

After all these years, Burgundy is finally sharing her passion and creativity with you through her jewelry creations. You will soon have the opportunity to own pieces from her first collection. Many items can never be duplicated, making them truly collectible. So who is Burgundy Olivier?

Burgundy lives in a small south-Louisiana town called Rayne, with a population of about 8,000 great folks. If you are ever in Rayne, pop in at City Hall and say hello to the Mayor, or eat at Chef Roy's Restaurant for the best seafood you will ever taste. If you need a nice place to spend the night, we recommend the Best Western Rayne Inn, on I-10 at Exit 87. When you find yourself with a sweet tooth, visit Candyland Cottage, or one of our antique shops or flea markets, and especially visit our very old five-and-dime, Worthmore's. Rayne has a nice, spacious RV park, large Pavillion & Civic Center and is filled with many locally owned businesses, over a hundred frog statues, and dozens of frog murals. You see, Rayne is the "Frog Capital of the World." For a real treat, pop in at the Chamber of Commerce and let Fran be your hostess. Rayne really is a great place to live...and visit.

Burgundy and her husband Al, own a 125-year-old house (circa 1889) in the heart of the downtown historic district. With fun-loving visits filled with lots of tickles and giggles from their grandsons, “Jelly Bean and Stink Bug”, they have transformed their big old house into a home. Al and Burgundy enjoy traveling, spending time with dear friends (and cooking!), as well as being active in their community. Al is also busy starting a backyard vegetable garden while Burgundy will be planting lots of herbs. Burgundy says that’s the real secret of everlasting love and happiness: the simple life.

Burgundy’s design studio was strategically placed in the center of their downstairs because she considers it the home’s heartbeat. The cozy little haven is a quaint, boudoir-like spot, with antique stained glass in the courtyard window, antique French windows facing the staircase, old dress forms draped in aged-jewelry, a vintage crystal chandelier, and too many little antique wooden boxes, drawers and jars to count, all filled with treasures she has collected during her travels.

At her work station, Burgundy listens to the sounds of Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey and Louis Armstrong, as well as old Beatles’ tunes and soft jazz. It’s at this time that her imagination comes alive and her creative-thinking starts to sparkle. Each piece of jewelry, or occasional quirky oddity, takes on a life of its own. Burgundy lets the vintage trinkets tell her what to create.

“Thank you for coming into my world of imaginative and eclectic creations. As you wear my jewelry, you will be able to share with younger generations stories about how these items bring back childhood memories. So, welcome to my virtual doorstep…pour yourself a glass of wine, turn the music down to soft and sultry, and allow your mind to experience romantic fantasies.”
